Emily Jean Simpson ’96 Passes

Emily was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 16th, 1977 and passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022 at her home in Fort Mitchell, KY. Emily graduated from Scott High School in 1996 and Northern Kentucky University in 2003, with a degree in Sociology.  Our sincere condolences to her family and friends on her passing.

Best of Scott Award Winners

The Best of Scott Award winners were announced at Pride Park in Taylor Mill on Homecoming Friday (September 16th) at 7:00 pm right after the Homecoming Parade went past the Park. Alumni members chosen included Chris Caddell, Adam Collinsworth, Emily Rose Lowe, plus Dave and Laura Batson. Teachers chosen included Linda Pennington, Jacque Van Houten, Dave Campbell, and Dick Roenker. All were nominated for going above and beyond for others while displaying their humanity.

Valerie Oliver Parshall ’88 Passes

Valerie Ann Oliver, 51, of Versailles, Indiana, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Frank Riley Passes

Frank M. Riley, 49 years of age, of Independence, Kentucky, entered into rest on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at University of Louisville Jewish Medical Center. Frank was born in Covington, Kentucky to his late parents Edward and Thelma Riley. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Garry and Tony Riley. Left to celebrate and cherish Franks memory is his beloved daughter, Angel Riley; his sisters and brothers, Caroline Riley, Larry Riley, Jerry Riley, Karen Teegarden (Bill), Joan Wells (Andrew), Wanda Vaughn (Rick), and Frances Brown; he will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Frank was a very funny and lighthearted man. He will be remembered as an amazing dad. His number one priority was his daughter. He was the #1 Cheer Dad. He always made the most of the time he had with Angel. He loved to take her boating, camping, fishing, riding four wheelers and Sea Doos. Frank was a very determined person; he always gave without counting the cost. He taught his daughter to be the best person she could be not just by telling her how she should live but by showing her how she should live. To Angel, her dad was her rock and her hero, and he will be forever remembered with great love and admiration. Friends and family will gather to celebrate Frank’s life on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. Highway 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill, Kentucky. Morgan Sweeney’s Nuptials

Morgan Sweeney ’16 married Kyle Gilbert on June 18th at The Club in Spindletop Hall at UK. It was a beautiful celebration with a honeymoon following in Savannah Georgia.

Jennnifer Wilson ’02 married John Ross Epperson on June 11th in a beautiful wedding and reception at the Devou Golf and Event Center. The couple enjoyed a delightful honeymoon in Jamaica.

The 2022 Hyde Scholarship, created in memory of Peggy Perkins Hyde, was awarded to Lauren Kent. Lauren graduated from Scott and Ignite with honors. We look forward to her career as an elementary teacher!
